Stats show that zero population growth is a reality for the states and Canada. It is most of the rest of the world where the pop problems exist. Here in Wa state, our quality of life problems occur both in the large cities (Seattle and Tacoma: congestion, traffic, air quality, crime) and in rural areas where fertilizer, live stock, and slash forestry and then slash burning create water and air pollution.

Thanks for expanding on what an enviromentalist would do...I do not have any children of my own, so I concur that population is a critical factor in saving the earth's atmosphere and soil.

I would add...becoming a vegetarian.

Zero population growth is not the whole story but it must be the center piece of any realistic environmental program.

Shades of Thomas Malthus!!!

Maybe we should all do this planet a big favor and unleash a Biological agent that only affect humanity.

Shades of a James Bond novel!!??

Save the earth at any cost, and give it back to nature!!!

But doesn't Nature pollute just a horrendously??

Personally, I would just declare all volcanic eruptions as illegal polluters and ban their operations. One major volcanic eruption emmits a huge percentage of greenhouse gases and poisonous emmissions rivaling the annual production of pollution from the human race.

Ron
