On the contrary,I believe (perhaps wishful thinking but still) CPQ woes equate to AMD's or vice-versa and not necessarily have anything to do with Intel,Dell or anybody else as Compaq is heavily in to the sub-zero segment with AMD inside. But since we can not get anything resembling the truth from CPQ it is hard to say whether their shortfall mainly comes from AMD machines or Intel machines. Anyway we shall soon find out. But remember we have no warnings from either from Intel or Dell.

Sure it does. Look at Dell's comments to analysts this past week. If there were disappointments that would have been the forum to use. Credibility is everything. It is one thing to say nothing, but quite another to dissemble.

Catcher,

Look at revenues as well as earnings. CPQ's case is one of poor margins and profitability. Their revenues were quite strong, a miss by 3% which good companies can usually manage by cutting costs.

If other companies like DELL with better margins and profitability make their revenue numbers, they will clearly make their earnings numbers.

As for INTC, it is now clear to me at least that they are not going to miss revenues. I do not know enough about their cost structure to comment on the earnings numbers.

Overall, it does look like a CPQ-specific problem.
