Gary, compare the time when fiber would be brought to the home. It didn't happen. Why? Because engineers extracted more 'life' out of copper, (DSL/cable modems.) I believe it will be the same with the PSTN. There are lots of INTERIM solutions that can 'extend' the life of the PSTN. LU, Cisco and lots of start ups being bought by ALA, Siemens and Ericsson will make money making sure this happens. One day we will have have the end to end data-centric network and fiber to the home but there is still lots of stuff we can do with the PSTN. And there is money there.
