I use disk keeper and backup exec to do this nightly on four physical disks. There is no conflict here....

doesn't the backup software give you an option to select different drives..to customize specific directories and drives?

Yes.. both BE and Diskeeper do that. I guess I'll go ahead and install where its most convenient which would be Fat 16 KOT and see what happens unless Sean indicates something new. I don't always end the day on primarry NT, half the time its on scsi-ta. ALL my partitions are either Fat 16 or NTFS so I shouldn't have any file system conflicts.
