The problems I find with VoN are many, but the main ones are easy to list.
I see no reason to repeat them over and over.

You keep forgetting that BT is a totally different type of remote access system.
Let's say we have to send a guy out into the field for a few days to oversee a well analysis. There's only one phone line out there and he needs to be logged into our corporate network to send and receive sensitive data we certainly wouldn't want anyone else to see. At the same time he's still in need of talking to the geologists and we'd like to be able to get to him too. We know he's in one of those areas that either has no cell phone coverage or, if it does, involves some heavy roaming charges. Sure is nice to just dial his extension number at the office and it will ring on his computer and he likes being able to get his secretary by just hitting her extension number. If his wife wants to call him she just dials his same old direct line at the office and Bingo! If he's single and expecting a call from his 94 year old grandmother but knows that he may end up working late he can just forward his home phone # to his office one and Bingo! She'll never know that he's in the middle of nowhere as the system works almost instantly without clicks or beeps and has virtually perfect voice quality.

This system is far more flexible and a heck of a lot easier, more cost effective and simpler to use than any other option - it truly allows you to carry a "virtual desk".
