"Current subscribers:....about.........450,000"

i believe a large portion of these are Canadian as well, I seem to remember 160,000 I checked @homes website but it did not split them up. Anyone know the exact #?

I feel that the install delays right now are probably the biggest threat, but that is a good problem to have. It means the demand is overwhelming. In the short term, the majority of people who have to wait for install will. Its that simple. Now, if wireless broadband ever really gets off its feet and people have a cost effective alternative to broadband cable, then @home will be in trouble.

So IMO 6-12 months should be enough time for the cable co's to hire enough people for instal. After that, if a strong alternative arises, and cable modems havent been made easily self installed, then i will worry.

Is T walking away from at home? IMO nothing has shown this. Is @home doing all it can to sign new agreements? a big YES. They are with the 1,2,3,4 and 6 largest cable co's in Canada. They signed with a major in Japan. Have access to i believe 60% of cable customers in the US. Are there things that can happen beyond @home's control? of course. If comcast left, would i worry? Yes. Would @HOME survive? Yes. Would I buy this stock at $170 a share... well probably not. would i buy it at $150 a share? yes. Luckily i bought at $68 a share and have been holding since.

just some rambling thoughts
regards
Jay

Thanks for that summary.
I didnt know Microsoft had the power to break Comcasts exclusivity agreement. Thats unnerving to say the least. What did Microsoft do to get that kind of power?
Losing Comcast is really my most significant worry, Comcast is only a part of the @home cable coalition but it would set a very bad precident. On the other hand it would probably shut up all those people screaming monopoly. I assume AT&T is bending over backwards to give Comcast whatever they want to stay in the family.
Long term though I'm not worried:
Comcast is only one of the *many* growing number of cable partners, @home just now moving into Japan starting its spread throughout the world. Europe, Asia. Small & Mid size cable companies are coming online too.
When will anyone get that the current # of subscribers is completely irrelevant? Calculate the cost/subscriber in 5-7 years and maybe you have something. Can @home grow to 20 million? Of course. Maybe even 40. Can AOL do similar growth (40x-80x) to 680 million? 1.4 Billion? No chance, no way.
Last year it was "only" 100,000 customers. Now its "only" 450,000. Next year "only" 1,000,000, the year after that "only"...
