I didnt know Microsoft had the power to break Comcasts exclusivity agreement. Thats unnerving to say the least. What did Microsoft do to get that kind of power?

I didn't know they had the power either. But I'd guess they got it with $1 Billion -- the amount of their investment in Comcast. They own 11%, which doesn't give them much power, but it sounds like this is one of those significant concessions they got for the investment.

It is a problem since Microsoft is also one of the junior partners in Road Runner. As I've said before, I believe Microsoft would prefer not to see the ATHM/AT&T net-centric vision of TV + internet gain the upper hand. I suspect they would want to make sure that Windows CE is a required part of any settop box or other device that connects to the broadband pipes. It doesn't matter much in the short run, while TV remains separate from the internet connection provided by @home or RoadRunner, but it will matter a great deal in the next step.
