I agree with you that the box sellers are going to be down for a while. I am running a 450 cpu and see no reason to trade up nor do I see many corporations needing faster puters.
QUESTION Doesn't the need for faster computers depend on internet access speed and for example the ability to watch movies and large content. I guess what I am asking is what do most of us need faster computers for?

Allen: I've been enjoying your posts. Re: Intel, don't forget Intel told all the OEM'S that by certain date around mid-march that if they wanted to alter or cancel contracts for chips they could, to the best of my knowledge no one did.

Alan,

The box business is weak but I think CPQ suffers from weak management. So I guess I am saying that 65% of CPQ's current problems can be attributed to weak demand and the other 35% is weak management.

Dell and Gateway might gain share and Intel might not suffer as much as one thinks with AMD losing money.
