Herbert,
for standard MS programmes and internet access, I agree with you, we don't really need faster PC's.
For games, you just have to keep up or be outside. As an example, I updated my desktop 2 years ago to a 166MHz PI. I took my box to my local Guru yesterday, becz a game I bought (I buy about 2 a year) wouldn't run. I was informed that 95% of all games produced today will not run on non MMX systems. So what do you do? On Tuesday I pick up a 350MHz AMD P6 motherboard
