The One Gorilla and One King game

is also

One wireless company and one fiber optics company

Areas of rapid growth in leading edge technologies

Diversity in a small package. :-)

Qualcomm leaps to the eye as the most up and coming young Gorilla.

Uniphase is perhaps less familiar here but as a brief reminder, George Gilder introduced Uniphase in his newsletter as the Intel of the Telecosm. Uniphase will be even more dominant in its field - supplying the key elements for fiber optics - when its merger with JDS Fitel takes place soon. This will then be a powerhouse of active and passive elements for fiber optic rapid data transmission. As of now, Uniphase provides the active elements and JDS Fitel the passive.

>> One Gorilla and One King - The bare bones Gorilla Game

Chaz2, bare bones would be one Gorilla, but that would be boring, except when you looked at your networth <g>. The 5 year graph for Uniphase is incredible - it holds up with the best stocks in the market:
techstocks.com

Can you explain why their earnings are negative (per Yahoo, -$2.20 for the last year)? An acquisition, I presume.

QCOM and UNPH, huh. Own them both and admire your barebones strategy. Hmmmmm. Do I have the guts to do that? Hmmmmmm.
