Ah, we could do without these global warming discussions, some of us are actually trying to invest here. Now, we don't expect DRBES or the rest of the clown act to actually admit to failure unless and until AMD is actually liquidated, however, some pre-liquidation humility would be appreciated.

I believed AMD's brilliant marketing team really out did themselves when they came up with the name K6 but the K7 proved me wrong. Where did they find the genius who came up with this latest name? I should not be surprised, the signs of genius are everywhere in this company. That green logo and their website also demonstrates that AMD really does get it.

There's another school of thought that says AMD doesn't exist without Intel since Intel drives the infrastructure that makes high-speed CPU production possible. In a very practical sense, AMD is simply a clone maker of last years throw-away technology. They purchase spillage and leftovers then attempt to mimic their superiors by fabricating last years technology and overclocking it. For a brief moment, AMD really did have technology on parallel with Intel: the day after they bought Nextgen. It's been downhill ever since.

Does AMD have value? Yes, insofar as they serve as a bad example but Intel also needs them for political purposes. It wouldn't surprise me to discover that Intel secretly helped AMD when it looked to be in danger of imploding under its own incompetence. Kinda like the Harlem Globe Trotters needs an opposing team to put on a dazzling show.
