I like the Stoics- Marcus Aurelius is a favorite. And I do not cheat because I do not want my husband to cheat. My concept of fairness makes me think that if I cheated he would have every right to cheat. That is the way I think about most things in my life. If I were sick, would I want someone to offer to do my shopping- YES. So when my friends are sick I offer to do theirs- and on it goes. If there is a child ahead of me in line at the store a few pennies short, I think "If it were my kid I would hope someone would give them the money to show them the world is mostly a good place to be" and so I give them the change they are missing. etc etc

OK, let's talk about adultery, as long as we don't mention B***. You called it a victimless crime in your opinion. For some people this may well be true. The famous open marriage in which both parties eschew ownership of each others' sexuality would be victimless on the side of the person in such a marriage, but the other party might be in an ownership marriage, where the other party might feel he has been robbed. Isn't this another problem of choice of morality? My impression is many closed-marriage men believe they have a natural right to sex with other women, and do not even argue the point at home. If they get caught sleeping around they take their chances. Most of them wouldn't propose an open marriage if the first closed one breaks up. I suppose they believe that the second wife is really stupid if she doesn't know that he will continue to roam.
What are women to do with men like this, assuming they exist?
