Jim,

how does AMD ever get out of their predicament? they can't produce CPU's as cheaply as Intel so if they drive the ASP down(seems to be AMD's goal), how do they ever do anything but put themselves in greater debt.

I see Celeron as a black hole which sucks the life out of AMD. AMD needs to escape from the effects of Celeron, which can only be done by producing a processor which is convincingly competitive with Intel's high end. It is possible that K6-III or K7 will accomplish this for them.

I think Intel should get into the boxmaking part of the business.

I believe that it is just a matter of time until Intel and Compaq square off in the CPU/PC battles. They have been heading in that direction for some time now.
