I am neither long nor short Dell nor do I normally post to this or any other thread but I want to commend you for trying to cool things down. I normally read the Dell posts because they tend to be more rational and more in touch with the markets than many others so I was very surprised at the level of animosity tonight. Further it does not appear that the attacks/insults are one sided.

It seems that over the past couple of months two views regarding the perceived problems pf the pc industry have developed. One is that the pc industry's growth is slowing, competition is increasing and margins may be hurt. The second view is that the problems are more company specific like with CPQ and that Dell may have to work a little harder but essentially is in good shape. In the interest of brevity I have made these views very simplistic. Understandably the Dell shorts believe the former and the Dell longs the later. I do not know which is right but I do know that if I were a Dell long I would be listening very closely to all arguments no matter how specious and stupid they may seem in order to insure that my investment is safe.

Stefan is one of those people making the argument that the industry is in trouble and not simply one or two companies. You may not agree but some of what he says makes sense. I would not want to hear it if I were long Dell; however I hope I would not respond by repeatedly calling him a dummy; insulting his command of English (my experience since reading SI posts has been that it is very common for there to be grammatical and spelling errors in this and other threads); criticizing his understanding of capitalism because he is an emigre' from a communist country etc. Frankly Stefan's English is substantively better than my French and my friends in Germany and the Czech Republic would agree with him that Italy is a southern European/Mediterranean country. However these issues are off topic.

The point is that what I understood made this country great was that in spite of the fact that we tend to have a significantly high level of cultural diversity, we acknowledge our differences and either come up with a better approach or agree to disagree. And that's what I thought the Dell thread was all about: a kind of tenuous, disjointed democracy that works to the benefit of the thread. Apparently it took several years to get to this level. I hope you will not loose it through intolerance; after all that is what cults are all about.

Sorry this was such a long post. Good trading tomorrow.

On which part is he right, certainly not about Italy. Here is write up from Encarta.

Italy
1. A peninsula of southern Europe projecting into the Mediterranean the Tyrrhenian and Adriatic seas.
2. A country of southern Europe comprising the peninsula of Italy, Sardinia, Sicily, Rome. Population 56,243,935.

Before you write your statements please check your facts first.

I never start the negative tone of my post in most of the cases it is instead by posters who write to me.

I have posted a legitimate question before all the crap was filling my box.
Ione made a statement that the low priced PC from competition don't come with number of devices he has cited. That statement was totally untrue and the intention of the post was to mislead.

I have posted two specs one from DELL and the other from Emachines (with links) and asked the thread to show me which component in DELL's machine was superior. So far no one pointed to any of the devices but we go to discuss location of Italy. If this is not a spin then I don't know what is.
