all from GATA
"AND ON THURSDAY APRIL 8, BILL MURPHY (AS MIDAS) FOLLOWED UP WITH:
One of the brightest minds I know that is associated with the gold
industry ( in this case, not my former colleague, Frank Veneroso )
told me this morning that his numbers show that there are 10,000
tonnes of shorts out there right now when you add up the totals from
the producer forward sales, OTC participant short sellers, trend
following Comex shorts, gold borrowing shorts and writers of gold
calls.
10,000 tonnes of gold is almost 4 times that of the 1998 mine supply
and is about 1/3 of all the gold reserves in the central banks. My
former associate, Frank Veneroso, who wrote the 1998 Gold Book Annual
came up with an 8,000 tonne number about two years ago. As Frank
thinks there is a larger natural supply/demand deficit than almost
anyone else, it is most likely that he also thinks a 10,000 tonne
number is reasonable right now."
Seems to support my claim that gold should get close to $300 in next
week or so (said it would be two or three weeks about two weeks ago).
Still expecting.

DKT $45.00 or Bust!

The Eagle Has Landed-for your info

Le Metropole members,

It is with great pride and heartfelt thanks to so many
of you that the Gold Anti Trust Action Committee wants
to let you know that we have reached our short term fund
raising goal and are now retaining Berger & Montague, one
of the premier law firms in the United States, to help
us launch an investigation into those that we believe have
colluded to hold down the gold price. As plaintiffs'
counsel Berger & Montague has recovered billions of dollars
in damages in the Drexel Burnham/Michael Milken junk bond
case, the Exxon Valdez case, and tobacco and Holocaust
cases, among others.

GATA has now received $50,400 in contributions and has
other funds promised to us.

This is not an official annoucement as we are working
on that with our PR firm and planning an aggressive
compaign against the gold shorts. We just thought you
should know that we have made solid progrss and hope to
be in the public arena by late next week.

GATA intends to:

(1) advocate and undertake litigation against collusion
to control the price and supply of gold (2) expose the
size of the gold loans and to alert the public as to the
"systemic risk" problem that has been created (3) urge
political opposition to the selling of U.S. gold, one of
the United States' most treasured assets, via IMF gold
sales, etc.

Contributions of all denominations to help fund GATA's
efforts are still very much needed. To contributors of
$500 or more, GATA will present a colorful fine art
reproduction of Absolut vodka artist Alain Despert's
painting symbolizing the committee's crusade. GATA hopes
that every gold mining company, gold fund, and mining
union local will at least make that much of a donation
to the cause.

GATA and our PR firm are putting together the a list of
appropriate names and phone numbers of members of the
press that might like to come and hear what we have to
say in New York. Some Cafe members may know of
journalists our news publications that have
correspondents in New York City that we could invite
to a press conference. If you identify them to
us via email back to this address, we will make sure
that they are invited.

All the best,

Bill Murphy
Chairman, Gold Anti Trust Action Committee Inc.
