I am not well versed in the genealogies on Cain's descendants. I would have to look into this one. I think it is unlikely we are descended from Cain. I believe that our genealogy proceeded through Seth. I'd have to look it up, and I'm sure you must have a rabbit in your hat! LOL

Yes, Genesis Chapter 5 lays out plainly that Noah came from the line of Seth, not cain. Cain must have helped father all the evil people that God wanted to purge from the earth!

But I must admit to great confusion here. Perhaps you can help me. Is Lamech of
the Cain story the same Lamech who was Noah's father. I only ask this because in
my Bible they seem to have two different fathers. One is named Mathuselah
(grandfather of Noah) but a descendant of Seth. The other was Methushael, a
descendant of Cain.

Somehow I discern you are not confused at all.

Ahh, two different fathers?
They are clearly two different generations indeed!

The descendants of both Adam and Cain are spelled out very clearly in the book of Genesis. There are clear distinctions between the blood line of cain and the blood line of Adam.

The descendants of Cain are chronicled in Gen. 4:17-23.
The descendants of Adam are chronicled in Gen. 5: 3-32.

You will also notice that Cain is glaringly absent from the genealogy of Adam.

You also asked:
So who are these guys?

The answer is deep within the pages of God's most blessed word. But not so deep as to remain unknown to those who are willing to search it out.

So, Noah's father was Lamech son of Methuselah and the last mentioned descendent of Cain was Lamech son of Methusael (Methuselah & Methusael being variants of the same name with different last syllables denoting variant names or terms for God). There are two traditions combined in Genesis - in one apparently we were descendents of Cain.

Well that would explain a lot.

concerning the beginnings of the many various nations of people in this world.
Providing of course, that you have any.

Also, I would like your thoughts, again if you have any, concerning the glaring absence of Cain in the genealogy of Adam. I asked this in a previous post but you have not yet responded. With all that is going on here I suppose it is quite easy to miss a post or two.
