I had some extended e-mail exchanges with one of the people involved in developing their system. an agriculture professor at Ohio State. I was quite impressed; I'm not sure how their managers stand in the ranks of CEOs, but they certainly seem to have a solid handle on what they are doing, and the idea sounds wonderful. Certainly nobody can accuse them of excessive hype.

For the uninitiated, they combine municipal sewage sludge with various industrial ashes, and process it to produce salable fertilizers with the highest degree of EPA approval. Actually profitable, or were for a while. Haven't looked lately; I only remember it when someone mentions excreta, which seldom occurs in polite conversation.
