The 2.2 kernel has SMP support but from what I understand, it's not as robust (on the level of maturity) as say, Solaris7. I'm not sure, but I think the number of processors is determined by the hardware platform. 2.2 kernel for Ultra will probably scale pretty well once it exists. Regarding Enlightenment; not many people use it because it's not particularly stable and is a resource pig. Gnome is still pretty Alpha. Even RedHat is loading KDE on their upcoming release. -JCJ
