RWS, You have made a good observation since you have a legitimate question. Firstly, my short-term CLASS signals are not used to determine trends, but to identify extreme overbought of oversold situations. As I have posted on the MDA website and mentioned many times on the thread, my CLASS signals are only good for the initial reversal, which for a $50 stock is normally good for a minimum of 1-3 points. If it moves more than 1-3 points, it was not because my CLASS signals hinted it, since it is limited to only the initial move. I developed this system mainly because I am an option trader and it gets me in right near the time of reversal. If you are familiar with options, once the reversal starts the premiums of the options can increase dramatically, so I am commonly in before the actual reversal starts and before the options increase in price. If timed right on the right $50 stock, a 3 point move normally produces a 25-40% gain. Now if the response to a CLASS SELL signal is small or late, then that implies that the trend may be changing to the upside, which was one of the reasons I have turned cautiously bullish. What I use to determine trends are more conventional methods, such as market internals, chart patterns, common technical analysis, and cycle analysis. What is really subjective in my system is the use of the NEW HIGHs/NEW LOWs & market internals and until they showed improvement I did not change my position. I am only cautiously bullish for the short/mid-term(5-30 days), which I have mentioned in the past, I am still bearish much longer term and still feel that within 5 years I feel the SPX will be back trading in the 15-20 PE range, and that the main top to possibly occur in the next 9 month cycle which will end next April. Thats for when the TOP could occur not when the market will get back to the 15-20 PE range, since it could take a long time for a the decline to bottom. My long term bearishish have anything to do with my short or mid-term analysis, and outside of common technical analysis. So my bearishness was mainly due to the poor NEW HIGHs/NEW LOWs which of course was subjective. I do not recall saying that the market could not get above 10,000 either. Now, let me ask you a question. You presented a question to me respectfully, but do you feel it was a sign of class to shove it in our faces. And as I stated in another post I frown on those who use that tactic whether I agree with their position or not. I have expressed my position to some of those bears. Do I deserve that type of attitude. seeya
