I agree, I thought that was subsumed under my statement
(maybe in an earlier post?) that Dell's ROIC is untouchable
by the competition. However, IBM's internal approach of
chosing to invest, or not invest, in a development group,
was what I was trying to outline.

What follows that statement is conjecture, like:

All this is getting a little too far into guesswork for me,
I simply wanted to point out that things are much more
competitive w/in IBM now, as compared to the past. In IBM's
past, there was much less focus on making each unit stand
alone financially.
