Not Trying to be a Wet Blanket but...

Is there some new technology on the near horizon that makes streaming video high quality over telephone lines using service providers such as AOL or MSN possible without major upgrades? Face it, most of the time RealAudio and other similar firms'streaming and audio "broadcasts" are of poor quality due to network congestion and constant buffering. I'm just curious and I believe folks in Silicon Valley may have a good answer.

BTW, I am long on Ampex.........loved their tape players from "a few year back"!
