From Mike Flaminio of Insanely Great Mac

* Fred Anderson noted Apple is shipping 333 MHz iMacs. Retailers will need to buy "five-packs" of iMacs, four blueberry machines and one alternative color. This is apparently Apple's attempt to better manager and meet iMac demand.

* When asked about the rumored fire at an LG Electronics plant in Mexico, the question was sidestepped. Anderson said iMac production for the U.S. is being handled by its Sacramento facilities and Apple anticipates iMac demand will be met.

* For Best Buy, the reseller will re-launch its iMac efforts with the new 333 MHz machines. Apparently Best Buy has not placed any iMac orders since Q1. On a related note, Anderson said Apple is pleased with CompUSA's retail performance.

* Current stats for Apple bring 43 percent of iMac buyers new to the platform. 32 percent were first time computer buyers and 11 percent were Windows users. PC data reported that Mac retail performance accounted for 11.3 percent of the market, up from 9.7 percent last quarter. ZD Storeboard puts Mac sales as high as 12.5 percent of retail. Anderson said Apple moved 827,000 units for the quarter. In more facts and figures, 89 percent of iMac users are on the Internet, this is up from 82 percent last quarter.

* Regarding recent low-cost PC computers, Anderson said Apple doesn't seen a significant impact to iMac sales. Anderson said Apple feels the computers are inferior to the iMac.

* No further information was given on any products. Apple stressed it does not comment on future products. Anderson did say informally that while the future consumer portable (P1) does not have a release date, it may be released around the middle of the year. In other words, this seems to discredit rumors of an April/May release and encourages rumors of a Macworld New York release
