donald sew: The XAU and XOI are both up. The TYX.X continues its rise from the expected support area, even more obvious with my "new" updated chart. But the TYX.X does have centerline resistance in this area to overcome.

Will today be the day as expected or will I have to join Heinz and eat my hat...<g>

Don, my comment wasn't meant to reflect an opinion on short term moves. you may well be right regarding near term shorting opportunities in these stocks. i have been accumulating some of the downtrodden copper, gold and aluminum stocks recently, but i didn't expect such a sharp move so soon,it was more of a long term play.let me point out though that many of these stocks have open interest on their puts higher than on their calls, which is rare and points to a limited downside. furthermore option speculators seem not to believe that the move is for real, as they were buying puts in droves yesterday on stocks like IP,CAT and AA.

regards,

hb

donald: I was just thinking of the process you and I were discussing earlier this week or was it last week...where if the Market began a strong decline the Market "may" de-couple the influence the TYX.X has, as a flight to safety could work Indices down and rates at the same time.

In an added observation, the NYA has been down most of the day, so far...while all of the Dow Indices have remained positive!

Of the Indices I watch "real time" during the day the COMP, INDU, TRAN and UTIL or up while the NYA, NDX, COMPX, RUT, OEX, SPX and DOT are all down as I type. Of course the counter trend Indices are up...XAU, XOI and TYX.X!

What do you think...time for the dipsters to step up to the hi-tech or band width plate? Surely those that were buying earlier this month “must” see them as a better value now, right?

LG
