Don, re: cyclical issues/portent of ending bull market: this jibes exactly with the assumption extant in the 70's (which i mentioned before),namely that the last leg of a bull market in stocks is accompanied by the first leg of a bull market in commodities. we may have entered this phase now. btw,if this should indeed be the case, the bear market to follow would not be all that bad, maybe minus 40-50%, basically leaving the door open for a new bull market to go even higher than the current one relatively soon. should the revival in commodities be a fluke,i.e. a bear market rally, worldwide deflation would become a reality (my test for this scenario would be for gold to break it's multi-year low of $270 significantly to the downside). in this case a minus 80-90% bear market would probably ensue. that's the kind of damage that takes 20-30 years to repair. i still believe that we are in for a blow-off, as the market starts to exhibit the various characteristics that i spoke of in an earlier post.(the improvement in internals already produces some of the effects on sentiment i spoke of,but it's still early innings i think)

regards,

hb
