In the past, one section of the job appraisal for the customer service reps for ld carriers was directly tied to sales (ie. how many people did they get to switch, how many features could they sell). Some of the office managers would push their reps to switch as many people as possible,sell as many added features as possible, whether the customer wanted them or not. Unethical but not uncommon practice. Enlightened management will eventually put a stop to slamming.
