You can deduct lawyers fees only on tax or income matters. Ie, you have a lawyer prepare your taxes or a lawyer helps you get taxable income, say the profit on selling real estate.

The Clintons don't pay any legal fees. What work that is done by other than the White House lawyers is paid for by the Legal Defense Fund set up by their wealthy friends.
