Here's my theory based partially on a contrarian theory: A major correction will take place in the internets (it may have begun earlier this week) it will take us to the point where many newbie "daytraders" will lose a large portion of their "fortunes". At this point they realize the market has turned against them. To re-gain their lost gains they will borrow money through credit cards, second mortgages and from retirement plans to short the stocks they once held long. This will drive prices down to points where institutional investors are again interested in the techs and a buying frenzy will take place leaving many bankrupt and homeless. At this point with 1/100th the previous # of daytraders and a soaring debt ratio for people of the U.S. there will be a dramatic reduction in consumer spending. This will lead profit margins lower for many U.S. companies and that in turn will bring stock prices down across the board. Companies like E-Trade and Ameritrade will no longer be able to operate because of lower volume and previous clients will be suing them for any reason imaginable. EITHER THAT OR THE MARKET WILL RISE FOREVER. I don't know
