The class Teacher, Dr. Flynn, has admitted that the benchmarks have come from simulations run using data gleaned from AMD, Intel, micro-processor forum etc. There is no silicon. He's being probed for data on speeds, cache etc. now but I expect his new found fame has him quite flooded with e-mail.

Steve - Thank you for the background. Understand, I don't fault the professor, but I have a problem with The Register publishing this stuff without taking the time to check out the validity. I wonder if the professor in this class will use "real" code names the next time he teaches this class?
