Brad, you wrote: "Check out a few posts going back several months on Yahoo....posted under the handle "Meredith". Interesting speculation.....and easy to see the logic."

This refers to a couple of cryptic posts suggesting a Lockheed buyout of IDX. I don't believe them, and the poster has never backed it up with anything. Just more mind games on Yahoo.

IDX is not in play.

Brad & IDX option players - the 4/26 Business Week had a very interesting cover story in their latest issue about "major improprieties" at the AMEX,
including price-fixing in the options market. What a surprise.
Apparently the bid/offer prices you see quoted, with their large spreads,
are put up by the specialists. They do not reveal to the public what the
(better prices of the) market makers bids/offers are.
Gosh, we could have told them that a long time ago!
The answer - you'll most likely be able to get filled at a better price if you go through a brokerage firm that employs an experienced floor trader at the AMEX, as
they will be able to deal directly with the market makers.
