What I mean to convey is that the word 'love' subsumes a large number of different emotions. I claim that the use of a single word reduces these behaviors [behaviors = emotions?? jbe] into a single meaningless concept.

If that is ALL you mean to convey, Chuzzlewit, you will get no argument from me. Indeed, I am ready to second your motion. (Although, as I have indicated above, I wonder about the substitution of "behaviors" for "emotions".)

As for the "quantitative" (as against "qualititative") distinctions, I am not quite sure what you mean. Are you saying that the reptilian brain, being first, explains more about our behavior than the neo-cortex, being last? Remember J.C.: "The first shall be last..And the last shall be first." :-))

And now, I really must go to bed! I have guests tomorrow, and the house is still a wreck! AAARRGHH! Why do I keep posting here????
