AC, check my take on this, but before the PC thing, everyone I knew was something, going to be something, but really wanted to act in movies, write movies, or produce movies. What all this new technology could do is give us all one of our most cherished secret fantasies, the ability to create our own movies. Take clips from here and there, substitute your favoret actors faces, make them act out fantasies that can be endlessly modified.
