Hi, I am jumping in here, for a moment, because I have recently asked this question myself, I am also getting set up with abw...

I am sure someone more knowledgeable here can help more, but I will tell you what I am getting based on answers i got to my questions...

Dell dimension xpsT 450mhz p3 with 128 mb sdram
21" trinitron 1600 hs monitor
13.6 gb hard drive
$2724 + tax... @ dell.com click on home office...

I will use this one, on a separate phone line, and different isp, for trading only... I will use my current system which is 333mhz/128mg dram w/ 17" monitor.. on another isp for si, news, etc...

From my understanding, you can get by on a 19" monitor, but 21" is much better... I hadn't looked at the price lately, was pleasantly surprised that this 21" sony trinitron is only a $640 upgrade...

The card dell recommended is 16mb diamond viper tnt ag graphics...

Hope this helps for now...

Kathy :))

eS, here's my setup fwiw:

Dell Dimension XPSr w/ Pentium II, 400 mhz
256 mb ECC sdRAM, 10 gig hd, dialup 56kflex modem, cordless Logitech mouse,
Appian J3 quad video card connected to one 21" viewsonic (for futures, position minder w/ 35-40 stocks, option montage, day buying window), one 15" viewsonic flat panel for intraday graphs, another 15" flat panel viewsonic for 2 level II screens w/ ticker, and final (4th screen) 19" viewsonic for broadtape (djnews). Resolution set @ 1024x768.

Granted, this is a bit much, but I hate enlarging/reducing windows and dragging them all over a single screen. I like everything layed out so i can just point and click. Good luck.
