I hope this isn't too far off-topic but I think it's the best place to ask.

I'm new to Technical Analysis. Reading my little heart out and still have a stack of 7 more books I want to rip through. So far, I'm loving it - really. Looking at the charts, trying to apply what I've learned, etc...

But, I would appreciate some feedback from people as to how I should approach trading when I start.

Would a program like MetaStock Professional or ProSuite by Omega Research do the trick? The ProSuite has a Radar program that will watch stocks/indices in real-time and alert you when conditions are met (sounds slick to me) and the TradeStation part seems to provide all the real-time info I want. Well, except for Time and Sales from what I've seen - not in the program. However, NEITHER of these programs address the issue of actually placing the trade. ugh.

Is it prudent (or maybe there is no "right and wrong decision") to use one of the programs listed above and then work thru and online trading house (but which one)? Or, should I go "full-bore" and get one of the MBT packages?

Any thoughts for this novice would be greatly appreciated.

Joe

Yes I do think it helped. I haven't had the usual white out screens I always got by say 12 to 2 pm. I'm not real tech on the issue but that's what I've seen for me.
