Well...since you asked;-)
I thought I had a nice 'system' figured out
on this one. I would trade in and out of an
energy fund once or twice a year, just to
capture about 20%...and then I'd be in cash
the rest of the time. However, after the
Economist's awash-in-oil issue, about two
months ago I think, I turned off my mental
energy-watch program, and figured I would
just tune back in during the summer. Whoops!

Missed the whole freakin run--even as I watched
the price for gasoline go from 89 cents to $1.35
in my neighborhood, I stood frozen, and never
captured any of the run. I think it is late in
the game now...but I could be wrong;-)
I certainly don't have any individual picks,
and after energy slumped right through this
last winter, I'm out of phase with the correct
seaonality. Really don't know what to think now.

Afternoon Harold,
Hope you survived the weekend(:>).
As for suggestions in oil-related companies the only company I follow is GLM. They had a good day today.
However, for a suggestion in a related field I would suggest that you look at APWR. With the deregulation of the electric utility industry, IMO APWR will greatly benefit from this event. As you know, this topic is a "hot" one here in Texas. APWR had a good day today and has an positive revenue flow and earnings. If you check it out, I would appreciate your thoughts.

Oil related picks: VLO and ESV; have done very well on both over the last couple of months. I expect them to rise further.

Harold, I followed a market basket of funds in 97 and 98 to try and spot trends. FYI State St research was relatively good in that sector.
