What I meant were relatively fat margins i.e. compared to the retail sector in general.

If you don't believe in fat margins, by retail standards, then it follows that Amazon doesn't remain a dominant "branded franchise" does it not?

When a business becomes a "branded franchise" it can charge a premium for it's products/service, otherwise it becomes a mere distributor of commodities.
