Now we know this is a Ancor's switch. Company Press Release Data General's CLARiiON Advanced Storage Division to Showcase Industry-Leading Disk Storage Solutions At NAB '99 More Than 20 Terabytes of CLARiiON Fibre Channel Storage to Support Demonstrations in Over 30 Booths LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 13, 1999-- The CLARiiON Advanced Storage Division of Data General Corporation will showcase its industry-leading, end-to-end Fibre Channel storage solutions at the NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) show next week. CLARiiON, a recognized leader in delivering disk storage solutions to the broadcasting industry, is giving attendees a first-hand look at the impact Fibre Channel storage can have on video, audio, and broadcasting and the power of Storage Area Networks (SANs). Several CLARiiON business partners, including Avid Technology, Leitch Technology, Silicon Graphics, and Tektronix, will participate in technology demonstrations in the CLARiiON booth. Additionally, more than 30 vendor's booths will showcase CLARiiON full Fibre Channel storage on the NAB '99 show floor. Demonstrations will illustrate how CLARiiON storage solutions can be an integral part of nonlinear editing (NLE) systems, enable new ways of delivering video and audio content in broadcasting environments, and allow for a single RAID system to broadcast and record several simultaneous video streams from the same disk array. CLARiiON also will support the Fibre Channel Loop Community (FCLC) in illustrating the advancements made in storing broadcast audio and video data. CLARiiON will connect a full Fibre Channel disk array located in its booth to several nonlinear editing (NLE) systems located in the FCLC booth. The NLE systems will share the same data physically located on a CLARiiON disk array in the CLARiiON booth. The NLE system and CLARiiON storage will be connected via a 500-meter fibre optic cable and a Fibre Channel switch. ''With the advances being made in audio and video applications, high speed digital storage is becoming a strategic and highly demanded element to delivering complete solutions. Full Fibre Channel storage solutions deliver the best value in performance, capacity, scalability, and reliability for the ever-growing needs of the video/audio marketplace,'' states Joanne Masingill, vice president of marketing at CLARiiON. ''With alliances such as those illustrated at NAB, CLARiiON is focused on delivering solutions that meet the broadcasting industry's needs today and preparing them for the future of their industry.'' CLARiiON and the FCLC will also be illustrating the potential of deploying Storage Area Networks. CLARiiON will participate in the FCLC's ''SANaganza'' demonstration. Together with Pinnacle Systems and Mercury Computer, CLARiiON will show how a pair of NLE systems can easily and inexpensively share a single disk array. Visiting CLARiiON at NAB '99 NAB '99 is being held Monday, April 19 through Thursday, April 22, at the Las Vegas Convention Center and Sands Exposition Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. CLARiiON full Fibre Channel storage solutions and demonstrations can be seen at the CLARiiON booth (# S5141) in the Sands Exposition Center.
