Although Compaq's board may appear to have acted in haste, yesterday's resignations will ensure that when Compaq issues its first-quarter results, on Wednesday, the report will mark the end of an era. Mr Rosen hopes that investors may be persuaded that in new hands Compaq's future performance will improve. "I hope Compaq will never again issue a profit warning," Mr Rosen said.
