PALO ALTO, Calif. (Dow Jones)--Apple Computer Inc. (AAPL) said Monday a final version of its
QuickTime 4 multimedia software should be available by the company's MacWorld conference in
July.

Earlier the company announced it released a free public beta version of QuickTime 4, Apple's latest
multimedia software for streaming live and stored video and audio over the Internet.

"This will be a huge year for Apple with digital video," Apple Vice President of Product Marketing
Phil Schiller said in a press conference.

QuickTime 4 can be used on both Macintosh and Microsoft Windows platforms and can be
downloaded by developers through QuickTime Streaming Server software. The open source server
software is $499.

"We are embracing the non-proprietary open server model for Internet streaming, and even giving
away great server software under of Open Source licensing model," interim Chief Executive Steve
Jobs said in a press release.

Apple said server companies like IBM, SGI, and Sun Microsystems Inc. (SUNW) are integrating
QuickTime Streaming software into their product lines.

The Cupertino, Calif. PC maker also said it began U.S. shipment of its video editing software, Final
Cut Pro Tuesday.

Final Cut Pro costs $999 and will be available outside the U.S. in 90 days.

MSFT reported .35/4.33B, sounds solid, but not typical MSFT "blow away" numbers. Any thoughts on this effect on tech stocks tomorrow?

Afterhours on MSFT shows little change.
