Gregg,

Agreed about the $1.20 figure. Also, regarding the comparison for royalties of $77 million this quarter vs $70 million last year. Last year had a lot of one-time stuff and adjustments. Royalties were up from $44 million in this year's first quarter.

I totally agree. The infrastructure division was really sucking wind if it only did $24 million in sales (932-908) and resulted in $0.38/share in losses ($1.20-0.82). I can see why Ericsson only paid about $100 million for it.

Gregg,

Many thanks for your explanation. But what does this 0.59 per share loss mean? So did QCOM make money or did it lose money this quarter? If everything is so great, then why RTQ is 133 after the earnings release?

right on ! For the second quarter of fiscal 1999, pro forma revenues were $908 million, pro
forma gross profit was 36 percent, pro forma net income was $98 million, and pro forma
earnings per share were $1.20 (diluted). The financial results of the third quarter of fiscal
1999 will include operations of the infrastructure business until the closing date of the
Ericsson transaction, which is expected on or after May 24, 1999 following receipt of the
necessary regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions. The Company
also plans to report pro forma information for the third quarter of fiscal 1999.

Gregg, But can they beat this next qr.? Do you see this qr. as the start of a linear growth phase, or is this a one time home run?

I had throw some water on this report since it was, how can say this, there are no words, I'm kind of speechless, I had to read it a few times to believe it, I was stunned, it was so smashing.

Observation #4....the lawsuit is gone, so the $3M per quarter charges for lawyers is gone....

Just wanted to help crank up the "view X number of replies" thing.

Hello to all.

Try to get a good night's sleep tonight. Our bodies may be on hyper-drive tomorrow.

Jon.

Simple observation #3: $1.20 x 4 = $4.80/shr.

Greg,

of all posters here, I am surprised that to see the above from you.

How could it be $1.20 X 4? This is the first qtr of the new Qualcomm. It is now our job to do some work and figure out what type of revenue QC has going forward, the increase in license/royalty and the type of margin improvements.

$1.20 is the new base. Should we be expecting $5 - $6 or more this year?

Jim Frost, Clark, sharpen your pencils and see some projections.

Ramsey

PS. No more AOL discussions here, please.
