You're right. Insider sales are miniscule, and have no bearing on the 30% drop from it's high.

So what is? According to CNBC (a couple of minutes ago)

1) Fidelity Magellan trimming their tech holdings of some winners
2) Strong Funds doing the same thing, lowering their tech sector allocations from 40% to 24%.

We don't know specifically what they sold, but I would be a bettor than they sold some EMC before the earnings annoucement, and will eventually re-enter.

Just be in the stock when they do.

I would look for other reason (including the distinct possibility that there is no good reason…)

Would it be possible Mutual Funds attempted to sell shares to lock in profits for short term performance measurement?
