I would be more excited if I didn't remember that there were a lot of write-downs in previous quarters. Be that as it may, it is still a very positive thing to beat estimates by almost 4 cents, and certainly all the analysts were aware of the write-downs so they should already have been factored into their estimates.

If I were the investing community (which is a howler if you know me) I would be interested in seeing a string of profitable quarters, not necessarily beating estimates but showing sustained profitability. Then I would jump in with both feet. I have demonstrated to my satisfaction that I cannot predict short-term trends. Fortunately, the market seems to agree with me most of the time in the long term.
