Glenn,

I avoid them by having to sell into brutal drops so that the equity stays above 40%. Monday was bad but October was a brutal one, too. 1990 was pretty rough, too. I get embarrassed doing it, since I know it is going to turn, but I simply don't let the equity percentage get that low even if I am using a lot of margin, and I have been for a solid decade now.

It seems like a dumb maneuver but it has worked like a charm.
