The discussions here about orbital mechanics and fuel dynamics are interesting...to an academe, but what about the real issue of creating profits for shareholders? Someone wrote that news reporters will use a lot of Globalstar minutes; I don't think banking on this market is such a great idea, nor does it inspire confidence. Iridium has been available, and has been used, by news services...to the tune of less than 100 phones (or not much more than that...). Let's see some discussion of projected minutes-of-use per month, and a demographic breakdown of user types, as well as the source of these figures. How many actual phones have been pre-ordered, and by whom? If anyone thinks this is irrelevant information, you might be in for a shock by the fourth quarter of this year.
