Christopher - EXCELLENT post and analogy. Without moral and accountable leadership - what possible expectation should we have among the "citizenry". So you sow so shall you reap. Retribution will come in all forms. The hypocracy of that moron to address the nation in prayer. He was probably saddened at the loss of so many potential interns; the address is for the press to placate the masses. He is murdering and plundering the weakest state of the european nation. And I have figured out what the American motivation is: the Y2K problem outside North America is dismal in outlook at best. With the establishment of NATO and the US countries aligned against communist aggression and any other middle eastern aggression that the failure of electronic grids, mass hysteria and chaos, military troops will be necessary to control the outbreak. This is a serious situation in the underpriveliged countries (with billions of people) that border Europe and those "just further east". Hence, European nations' participation and reluctance to disagree with the military presence of troops, particularly ground troops - right now peacekeepers, but can be front line grunts who can be called to establish order. Remember those renegade 3rd world nations that have nukes, civil unrest, already disorder and animosity toward the west - be it for religious or economic reasons. When the failures roll in, there will be the tendency for revolt and unrest. Just an idea, but I do believe with the US troops in Kosovo to maintain" harmony - they will be at the ready with all the hardware that is going in. Perhaps I was just taking a myopic view of the situation thinking it is about Milo, and saving the KLA. Remember, the US doesn't like either of them and has documented both populations as terrorists. So by clearing out KOSOVO - they will be able to firmly establish the military might, in a crucial global hotspot, without having to get agreements from any European country. For example, if we need to attack someone in the middle east, we won't have to beg France to fly over its airspace (if they are reluctant as they have so many ties with the PLA, etc.)- we can launch from Kosovo. In the past 15 years, European countries have dismantled over 75% of the US bases and we had lost our military presence and our influence. With this one major move, we are back in force, and in a bigger way than prior to the countries removing us. Now we are back in the Mediterranean with more "metal" than we had in over 10 years. No, Kosovo is not the reason we are there, it is a much bigger project. BTW - I wonder when the phillipines are going to wish we were back there to protect them from China. Oops, where are my shoes???... Jacalyn
