I've gone back and forth on the diversification thing. Yes, diversification can cushion the hit when something goes wrong, but it also dilutes the reward when things go right. These days I'm inclined to limit my diversification in the stock market; my portfolio is quite concentrated. My diversification comes from having my house and cars paid off and other extra-market factors.

JMHO, of course. YMMV.

Just for grins, I'd like to point out one of the worst back to back stock sales of all time. Late last year, when LSI was around $10, and QCOM was around $50, Jim Jubak sold both based on what he perceived as low earnings potential in the coming 12 months. Good God, he should have stayed home those day....

LSI is now pushing $40, and QCOM is UP $40+ today (bouncing around $180...) I know we all make mistakes, but Jeez Louise, from someone who writes a column on how to pick stocks, you'd expect a lot better than that...
