Would like to know your opinion on why AOL is crappy. Could you please elaborate?

There are an enormous number of options for travellers that don't include using AOL.

Check out any number of providers like IBM global net, Concentric etc.

My boss uses IBM (recently sold i belive) and connected from his hotel to a local host in China! Try doing that with AOL.

I don't think the cable providers have a solution for travellers right now. I don't really see this as a long term liability either. Within a couple years, you will see hotels offering ethernet in rooms as a service to business customers.

You will have to have a dial up ISP, I believe.
