Re : how [do] the QCOM licenses work? Without getting into specifics -- my best answer is : Dr. Jacobs and the rest of his management team have clearly demonstrated -- they know how to exploit their HUGE technological advantage (with CDMA).

Also, Dr. Jacobs has done the whole "build up a successful publicly traded high tech company" thing before (Linkabit).

So, before digging into the mechanics of Qualcomm's licensing arrangements, you can feel confident that QCOM has a good deal.
