Very interesting Will. I hadn't heard that QCOM had moved to SiGe at all. If this is in the MSM3100 chip set this is the one going into the new Thin Phone line which will be a big hit. Maybe it won't spillover to Kopn though. A while ago I asked you if Kopn could make the transition to SiGe. Do you have any more thoughts on this now? If Qcom moves to SiGe for its new line, will this shut out ole Kope or can some of Kopin's new manufacturing lines be including SiGe already? Tom

Will, thanks for your post on QCOM's new chipset and the incorporation of SiGe technology. As an investor in KOPN, ANAD and formerly RFMD I am particularly interested in any advancements in SiGe.

I'm not an IC engineer so I'm looking for some help with this. My understanding is that GaAs properties make it better suited for power amplifier applications due to advantages related to signal to noise ratio, gain, and low power consumption.

SiGe, I understand, is coming on the scene these days 1) because it is easier to integrate with other Si components and 2) cost. That being said, SiGe seems to be less suited for power amplifiers because phone manufacturers have never been willing to compromise the performance of their products for negligible cost savings.

Any light on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
