"Does anybody here actually understand the function of this new business unit - i.e. Internet Business Unit with ASP's?"

jkb,
One analyst (or money manager) asked no less than three times for clarification on their, "Internet," plans and I couldn't figure out what the answer was and neither could she. It was a long CC and it really dragged on because the Q&A was so ambigious. If anyone listened and understood, please post.

I did read something from an Oracle press release that may be related to what CTXS is attempting to do. If you read this press release at:
biz.yahoo.com
and then go over to Oracle's website at:
Well sorry. I can't find it now.

But Larry Ellison was saying something about, "Centralized servers accessed via the Internet, using a browser, is the future of the world. Everything else is dead," type of thing. I was thinking that maybe that is what CTXS was planning on doing with the ASP thing? But as usual, CTXS did a poor job of explaining it.
MikeM(From Florida)

PS The Y2K Q&A was simple to understand. It's very simple. Instead of a company having to deal with hundreds of PC each having their own peculiar Y2K bug, CTXS says, just make your server Y2K compliant, load our software, and forget about the desktop problems.

MikeM and jkb,

Back to our conversation about the role, advantages and disadvantages of ASPs. I stumbled on a short article that shows what Cisco is doing to make ASPs more appealing and why they need to have more appeal to be successful. Check it out: informationweek.com
