>>We believe consensus estimates will have to follow suit. We believe the stock could move back to the mid $30s in the near-term and as a result are lowering our rating to Long-Term Attractive from Strong Buy.<<

uh, excuse me "off by miles" niles (btw, thanks for changing your view to better match mine - you did learn a lot from tom k!), if a stock is $45 and you think it is going to $35, the correct rating is SELL!!!! you nimwit!

Tom, in the midst of picking on poor old Dan Niles, you ask an interesting question:
Is outsourcing production to Taiwan "dropping out?"

I would argue that it is. Japanese producers are not keeping up sufficiently, so they are outsourcing production to Tiawan. The interesting thing about this is that most of the people in Taiwan who are making this DRAM are also in the foundry business. As foundry shortages rise, and DRAM prices fall, I would expect capacity to be diverted to foundry which will obviously be more profitable.

we anticipate becoming more bullish around August

Nice of ol Danny Boy to tip the world to R&S's investment plans, huh? Such an honest and forthright guy like that giving us the opportunity to get positioned well before R&S does. Irony indeed -- using Dan's own tip to get positioned ahead of him, maybe even selling it for a nice profit while he's still buying! Hardy har har! Sucker!

NOT!

The voices in my head are saying "teens by Labor Day" just a little bit more loudly now.

(They also say that SG Cowen and Salomon Smith Barney are having technology tout-fests in September.)
